Know what's below.

Engineering-grade utility investigation for designers, contractors and asset owners across the Sunshine Coast and South East Queensland. Every mark we place and every drawing we issue states its AS 5488 quality level.

What we do

Four ways to reduce subsurface risk.

From a fast pre-excavation mark-out to a fully engineered utility investigation deliverable, the method is matched to the decision you need to make.

01 · EM

Electromagnetic locating

Active and passive electromagnetic tracing of conductive services — power, communications, metallic mains and trace-wired assets — marked on the ground and recorded against AS 5488.

02 · GPR

Ground-penetrating radar

Radar investigation for non-conductive and unknown services — PVC, PE, AC and abandoned assets that electromagnetic methods cannot see on their own.

03 · SUE

Subsurface utility engineering

Engineering-grade utility investigation reports and CAD/GIS deliverables classified QL-D through QL-A, issued in the formats your design team actually works in.

04 · NDD

Potholing verification

Non-destructive digging to visually confirm asset position, depth and material — lifting critical services to QL-A where the design or construction risk demands certainty.

AS 5488

Every deliverable states its quality level.

A mark on the ground means nothing without a stated confidence. We classify everything we locate to AS 5488, so you know exactly how much weight each line can carry in design and construction.

QL-A

Verified

Potholed and physically sighted. Position, depth and material confirmed to ±50 mm.

QL-B

Traced

Reliable electronic location. ±300 mm horizontal and ±500 mm vertical tolerance.

QL-C

Inferred

Identified from surface features where an electronic trace could not be achieved.

QL-D

Recorded

Identified from plans and records only. No positional accuracy is implied.

QL-C and QL-D carry no special accuracy — which is exactly why we tell you when that is all the evidence supports.

How we work

An engineering process, not a walk with a wand.

Foresight was built by people who estimate, design and deliver civil work. The investigation is scoped around the decision it needs to support.

Step 1

Scope

We clarify the work area, the design or construction decision at stake, and the quality level each asset actually needs.

Step 2

Investigate

BYDA plans, site walkover, then systematic EM and GPR sweeps — active, passive and blind search — across the designated area.

Step 3

Verify

Where certainty matters, non-destructive potholing confirms position, depth and material, lifting critical services to QL-A.

Step 4

Report

A clear deliverable with stated quality levels — field mark-out, survey pickup, and CAD/GIS output in the format your team uses.

Tell us what you are building. We will tell you what is in the way.

Send through the site, the drawings you have, and the decision you need to make. We will come back with a clear price and a clear quality level.
